When you’re so nervous to say something, you say nothing

I’ll be honest: for an extroverted and social guy, I can sometimes get some social anxiety. What I mean is that sometimes I get in my own head and worry about saying something that sounds dumb. And so, I just end up just saying nothing. And I’ve realized that the same thing can apply to my own writing and content marketing for my business. Sometimes, I get so wound up about whether my idea or my opinion or my expertise will be well received that I forego writing about it and it never gets published.Even this article falls into that category, to an extent. Sometimes I can get so nervous about saying something that I end up saying nothing. And I can imagine that the same thing applies to other people and their businesses. They get so worried about putting out a blog article or publishing a social media post or sending off an email to their subscribers that they just end up not doing it.After all, it’s only natural to be protective of your brand and to make sure you’re saying something meaningful that will resonate with people. But if you overthink it and put it off too long, you’ll never end up doing it. And ultimately, I believe that’s the wrong approach. I think you’re better off saying something than saying nothing. You’re better off getting the process started than worrying so much that you never do.It’s better to make yourself visible than to stay in the shadows and never be seen. The worst thing you can do is say nothing. So, put your content out for the world to see.You know your stuff. And there are people who want to hear it. So, get out of your own head and let the content fly.Or, if you’re not comfortable doing it on your own, bring on some help from an outside consultant.I work with coworking operators from across North America to craft and implement content strategies that deliver results. If you’d like to learn more about how I can help you, or if you’re interested in bringing on some help with your social media, get in touch with me today. And if you’d like more insights like this, subscribe to my mailing list.
