Education: the fringe benefit of writing content for members

When you create content for your members, you learn a whole lot that can benefit you too. Here’s an example…When I first started writing content for coworking spaces, a lot of the subject matter we covered was geared towards people who were growing their businesses. And I was growing mine too.So, as I was writing things like small business marketing tips or social media best practices, I was also learning how to do it for myself. For another example…In the early days, I didn’t know a whole ton about the commercial real estate side of the flexible office industry. But as I started working with clients who offered a managed model and we created content aimed at commercial landlords, building owners, and brokers, I learned a whole lot about that side of the industry. As a result, I was able to expand my business to serve a market I previously wouldn’t have been able to.My point is this…Creating content can be daunting and time-consuming. Sometimes it’ll feel like the last thing you want to do.But don’t think about creating content for your members as a burden. Think of it as a learning opportunity. It’s an opportunity to learn skills you can use as a business owner while helping your members to do the same. And it’s an opportunity to learn more about your members, what matters to them, and how you can better serve them.
